January 9 is the Round 1 deadline for Kindergarten ‘09 applications but the PREFund families with eligible kids have already turned theirs in with Daniel Webster Spanish Immersion in the top slot. PREFund members as well as some other Potrero Hill families are committed to enrolling at DW (lottery permitting!) and devoting even more of their time and effort to championing our neighborhood school.

Daniel Webster was the site of an offsite early enrollment dropoff with two EPC representatives processing applications on January 5. Seeing DW in the #1 slot on our lists was an emotional moment for those of us who have worked steadily since 2005 to improve programs and education at Daniel Webster for all students. In only a few short months, our children could be clamoring through the gates of a school that was threatened with closure just three years ago. In many ways, our work has already paid off, with two fully enrolled SIP and one general education Kindergarten, a major facelift, new programs and many additional Potrero Hill and surrounding neighborhood families taking note and adding DW to their list of 7.

Our goal of keeping our neighborhood school not only open, but turning into a thriving, vibrant part of our community is well within reach.
