Daniel Webster Elementary participates in Global Chalk4Peace Event

On Saturday, September 12 Daniel Webster hosted a Back to School BBQ which allowed parents to visit their children’s classrooms and get to know their teachers. This year, thanks to the dedicated work of DW’s PTA President, Beth Gould, the annual event had the added excitement of Chalk4Peace. The only San Francisco school participating in this global grassroots art event, the rain didn’t stop the Daniel Webster community from chalking out their messages and visions for a more peaceful planet. Started in 2005 in Washington, DC, Chalk4Peace is now an international event. This year more than 20,000 participants chalked on 2000 sites on 4 continents. Chalk4Peace is not an anti-war demonstration; rather, it is a creative presentation for artists of all ages utilizing the theme of Peace. The DW community was proud to be a part of this worldwide event. Whole Foods, a Chalk4Peace sponsor, provided the main BBQ fixin’s and Daniel Webster families brought a scrumptious array of side dishes and desserts to make the day even sweeter.
