Our Team
Our seven person volunteer team spans diverse backgrounds and interests, but we are united in our commitment to help public schools in Potrero Hill.
Stacey Bartlett
Stacey serves as PKDW’s administrative director and, together with PKDW’s programmatic director and crack teaching staff, she has made PKDW into one of eastern San Francisco’s most coveted preschools. A trivia maven with a photographic memory, Stacey is a two time game show winner in her past life. She also had a lengthy career as a research analyst and possesses encyclopedic knowledge of all things related to public school in San Francisco. Stacey and her husband have lived on the Hill since 2001, now with their two young children.
Jennifer Betti
Jen is a senior communications expert with extensive experience leading global communications teams. Formerly the communications director at the Bay Area's largest international development organization, Jen now specializes in managing crisis and transitional communications at a leading communications firm. Jen serves as PREFund's media spokesperson and always has her finger on the pulse of Potrero Hill education-related needs. Jen and her husband have two young children and have been Hill residents since 2002.
Katherine Doumani
Katherine is a freelance copywriter and editor and a tireless supporter of Potrero Hill educational initiatives. As the captial campaign Chair for Friends of Potrero Hill Nursery School's Raise a Roof effort, Katherine understands the incredible commitment necessary to keep quality educational options available in eastern San Francisco. Katherine and her husband have one daughter and have lived in Potrero Hill since 2001.
Dena Fischer
Dena, a former Hollywood film executive and book agent, now works as a freelance writer and editor. Dena brings her well-honed writing, editorial and communications skills to PREFund, where she serves as our go-to person for all manner of communication. Dena also volunteers extensively at Daniel Webster, where she currently serves as the PTA President. Hill residents since 2001, Dena and her husband have twin boys.
Debra Grassgreen
Debra is a partner in a national boutique law firm specializing in restructuring and is listed among "Best Lawyers in America" and "San Francisco's Best Lawyers" for her work in bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights law. As our chief financial officer, Debra provides financial oversight for PREFund's business operations and assists with legal matters as they arise. Debra has lived on the Hill since 2002, now with her husband and young son.
Melissa Millsaps
Melissa is a political junkie with one foot still in Washington, DC, where she spent many years working as a political reporter and legislative analyst. Most recently she worked as a consultant for The Governors' Project, identifying and developing strategies to overcome roadblocks faced by women running for Governor. Melissa serves as PREFund's political advisor, analyzing school board and state education-related decisions. Melissa and her husband spent 6 years on the Hill and have two young children.
Laura Mitic
Laura is a former bench scientist who now works as a research program manager for an academic consortium dedicated to finding a cure for an early onset dementia. She serves as our chief grantwriter, risk manager and webmaster for PREFund. Laura and her husband have lived on the Hill since 2002 and have two young children.
