PREFund Presents:

From cyberbullying to FOMO, social media can be a landmine for today's tweens and teens. Be the first to hear the key findings of Common Sense's groundbreaking 2018 follow up to their 2012 study, Social Media, Social Life.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion about the impact of the research, how to recognize and support kids in need, ways to help kids use social media in healthy and productive ways and tips for promoting digital well-being in your own life.

With digital well-being becoming an increasing concern for families, researchers are exploring potential links between social media and mental health, tech addiction, and loss of real-life social skills.   Common Sense's one-of-a-kind study will give key insights into what kids say they are actually doing online and how they believe it affects them. The findings are surprising (read: social media is not all bad) but does beg a closer look at which kids are most vulnerable to the negative impact of social media and why.

PREFund board members leverage Common Sense's reviews and advice in navigating the media landscape with our own kids and we are thrilled to welcome this leading nonprofit to our stage.
